Another day, another sweet hair color here to convince us that we need a new season shade switch-a-roo. Although Summer may not have arrived yet, this vibrant hue has us dreaming of beachside cocktails. Tequila sunrise is the new hair shade we're obsessing over. Who doesn't want to have hair matching their favorite cocktail? It even reminds us of another metallic color trend for 2018, gold hair.
If you're unsure about whether tequila sunrise hair will suit you, Kate Reid, Color Me by Kevin Murphy's design director and colorist, says that tequila sunrise as well as coral, tangerine, and metallic apricots are best suited on warm skin tones that appear olive, beige, or golden in color and typically have green or brown eyes.
But if you don't have a warm skin tone, the look isn't out of reach. Her advice is to be sure to keep some of your natural shade in the hair, even if it's a small amount of regrowth, as this will help to offset the warmer color choice.
If you want to try tequila sunrise but aren't quite yet ready for commitment, Kate suggests trying a demi-color as it will wash out fairly quickly. Ask your colorist for Color Me Apricot, which will add luminous shine and a soft metallic apricot shimmer. Sounds just as dreamy as a cocktail in the sunshine!
Read on for some of our favorite tequila sunrise hues so you can rock the sunny color just in time for warmer weather.

The latest hair colour trend forecast is here and it calls for a Tequila Sunrise. For clients looking to add warmth to their hair just in time for spring, this trend for 2018 may be just what they’ve been craving. Composed of warm orange, coral, tangerine and metallic apricot shades, this colour is sure to make a statement.
“Tone is something that you can tweak seasonally, but warm tones suit many people year-round as it brings out a healthy glow in their skin, even in winter,” says Kate Reid, Kevin.Murphy’s Color.Me design director and colourist.
Reid adds that although Tequila Sunrise is typically seen on lighter hair, it can still be achieved on dark-haired clients.
“Tequila Sunrise is best suited for warm skin tones that appear olive, beige or golden in colour and typically have green or brown eyes,” she says. “For cooler skin, be sure to keep some natural shade in the hair, or even a small regrowth, as this will help to off-set the warmer colour choice.”
For a low-commitment option, a demi colour is a great alternative that will wash out and allow clients to return to blonde. Another option that Reid recommends is Kevin.Murphy’s Color.Me Apricot toner, which will add an apricot shimmer to the hair.

16. Myth: You Can't Go Blonde In The Winter
“As the cooler months roll in, we are seeing more soft baby lights, ashier shades, and or creamy blonde tones,” says Kate Reid, Global Design Director for KEVIN.MURPHY's COLOR.ME line. “Blondes can also embrace a metallic dimension to make them look more luminous during those grey months.”
